Arterio-venous Fistula Ultrasound
Our primary mission as Circulation Specialists is to help you achieve the healthiest circulation possible for your stage in life.
Whatever your lifestyle, genetic predisposition or individual health aspirations – Your Circulation is your Lifeline.
Post-intervention doppler ultrasound evaluation and surveillance for hemodialysis access, either arterio-venous fistula or graft.
It allows the identification and localization of any vascular stenosis, occlusion or aneurysm that may affect the maintenance of the access or quality of the dialysis. This ensures functional patency and the early detection of complications.
Report will include
- Diameter measurements of fistula and depth from surface of skin
- Hemodynamic assessment of in-flow artery/graft and out-flow vein/graft for stenosis or thrombosis
- Maturation of AVF
- Rule out subclavian vein and axillary vein DVT
What will happen during the examination?
You will lie on an examination bed and expose the arm with the AV access. Our specialist sonographer, who will perform the scan, will gently pass the ultrasound probe over the fistula/graft and also your shoulder region.
This scan takes up to 30 minutes.
