Ultrasound Arterial And Vein Mapping For AV Fistula
Our primary mission as Circulation Specialists is to help you achieve the healthiest circulation possible for your stage in life.
Whatever your lifestyle, genetic predisposition or individual health aspirations – Your Circulation is your Lifeline.
This is a pre-operative vascular mapping of the upper limb for creation of native arteriovenous fistula (AVF), vascular access of choice for hemodialysis, or graft.
Doppler ultrasound facilitates the identification of vessels that are suitable for fistula construction. It is the only imaging modality that provides both morphological and functional data on the native vascular access.
Report will include
- Subclavian, brachial and radial artery size and patency at interval points
- Cephalic and basilic vein mapping post dilatation (depth from skin, diameter, patency, length)
- Modified duplex Allen test
- Presence of antecubital vein
What will happen during the examination?
This test will be performed with you lying on an examination bed with your arm exposed. To facilitate the scan, your upper arm will be tightened with a tourniquet.
This scan takes up to 30 minutes for one limb and 45 minutes for both limbs.
